Photoradar "KRIS-1"

Police system "KRIS-1" for automated enforcement of traffic violations.

It is an automatic system of supervision over movement speed with recording violators' images.  The photoradar "KRIS-1" forms the database of violators and provides receiving the data at the central office or in a patrol vehicle.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  • Speed measuring of vehicles in a zone of control.
  • Automatic photographing of all violators at the moment of passage of a zone of control.
  • Automatic selection of photography containing the license plate image.
  • Writing of the speed, date and time into frame.
  • Remote setting and control of the complex unit.
  • Database transmission to remote central station or in a patrol vehicle.
  • Protection of information from unauthorized access.
  • Statistical data gathering and analysis about the vehicle quantity in traffic, vehicle types and traffic flow.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

The vehicle speed measurement methodology used in photoradar “KRIS-1” is based on simultaneous usage of the two processing technologies: processing data from the Doppler radar vehicle speed measurements and the video image recognition for the moving objects. The joint mathematical analysis of the images and a radar data guarantees exact identification of a photo and the measured speed.

The vehicle speed is measured repeatedly during passage across the zone of control. The CORSU unit analyzes the data and automatically provides the selection of the photography with clear image of the infringer - vehicle license plate code.

STRUCTURE OF THE SYSTEM “KRIS-1”

Ñircuit of photoradar KRIS

The following components are included in the system:

I. Post of speed control (PSC):

  • Combined Optical and Radar Sensing Unit (CORSU) provides the data measurement, photographing and comparison as whole process. Every CORSU scans a one traffic lane.  CORSU consists:
    • Radar "ISKRA-1" DA/KRIS with narrow radiation pattern.
    • TV-camera.
    • The specialized industrial computer.
    • The power unit.
    • The remote control device for switching power.
    • The data receiving / transmission unit.
    • The temperature control and conditioning unit.
  • Concentrator – a specialized equipment in a sealed casing providing channels of communication with the central office. Up to four sensors (CORSU) may be connected to one concentrator.

II. Central Office (CO)

All the data from CORSU transferred to the Central Office (CO). The data storage, analysis and processing are provided in the CO. The remote control of the system  is carried out from the Central Office.
CO consists:
• The central file server for the data gathering, storage.
• Communications server.
• Uninterruptible power supply.
• Central control station operator computer.
• The clients software program for auditing of the database, for the statistic gathering and analysis.
• Data transmission equipment.

III. Patrol Station (PS)

Patrol Station (PS) also can run as the CO. The PS equipped set is placed in the patrol vehicle and is used both for data acquisition from CORSU and for control of the system. PS consists of:
• Notebook  completed with the digital radio communication tools and the directional antenna.
• Client’s software program for operation in on-line mode.

Any number of PSC (posts of speed control) and PS may be included in the composition of the system.

COMMUNICATIONS

Control of the photoradar and transmitting data to posts may be done via different communication facilities:

TYPE OF CHANNEL  LINK SPEED  DISTANCE
Fiber-optical channel  100-1000Mbit/s
(200 fps)
Up to 15-20 km
 UTP5 Ethernet 100 Mbit/s
(20 fps)
Up to 100 meters
Wireless radio-frequency channel (802.11g/b) 5-10 Mbit/s
(1-2 fps)
Up to 1,5 km
(in a zone of direct visibility)
Telephone lines  33 Kbit/s
(3 frames/min)
unlimited
GSM  10 Kbit/s
(1 frame/min)
unlimited

Data transmission rate and possible distance are determined by the selected communication channel.

CORSU positioning on the road.

CORSU are placed above a roadway at height about 6 meters along an axis of a line of movement. The transverse girder or consoles on supports may be used for CORSU installation on site. The deviation in relation to the scanned traffic lane axis no more than 1.0-1.5 meters is permitted.

Certification and warranties

The warranty period of the complex is 1 year.

The sensor "ISKRA-1" DA/KRIS has been certified by the State Standard of Russia: Certificate of approving a type of measuring facilities RU.Ñ.28.001.A N 17114.
